Peder W. Kirkegaard, 87, of Lake Geneva, Wis., formerly of Gurnee, Ill., and Land O’ Lakes, Wis., died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016, at Saint Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wis.
Peder Warmdahl Kirkegaard was born in Jecksen, Denmark, on March 1, 1929, the son of the late Aksel and Astrid (Warmdahl) Kirkegaard. He was educated in Denmark.
On Sept. 7, 1956, he was united in marriage to the former Ruth Marie Josephson; she preceded him in death on March 23, 2005.
He was the former owner of several businesses: Waukegan Disposal, Fargaard Disposal, Deltas Disposal, John Sisson Disposal, TK City Disposal, BFI, Beach Mobile Home Park and Lakeland Mobile Home Park.
Peder is survived by four children, Kim (Vicky) Kirkegaard of Pleasant Prairie, Wis., Ingrid Kirkegaard of Lake Geneva, Kathy (Carl) Paglini of Elkhorn, Wis., and Mark (Alison) Kirkegaard of Woodruff, Wis.; four grandchildren, Tracy (Jeff) Waugh, Christopher (Jessica) Sarver, Brian Kirkegaard and Kari Kirkegaard; a great-grandson, Colton Sarver; a sister, Helga Erbou of Hadsten, Denmark; a brother, Ole Kirkegaard of Waukegan, Ill.; and his beloved companion, Angus, his black Lab.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Aase Friis; and a brother, Jens Jorgen Kirkegaard.
Services for Peder were held Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, in the chapel of Derrick Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Lake Geneva; Chaplain Jeff Taylor of Calvary Community Church will officiate. Visitation was Friday, Oct. 22, at the funeral home.
