
Sally A. Staffen, age 84, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016, at Nazareth Nursing Home in Stoughton, Wis.
Sally was born to Minot and Marie (née Barry) Hoard in Mosinee, Wis., on May 5, 1932.
She graduated from Mosinee High School in 1950, and UW-Oshkosh in 1954.
She began teaching physical education at Neillsville High School that same year, and later for 27 years at Edgerton, Wis. She also coached track at the high school for many successful years.
In 1956 she married Gene Staffen and their life together, teaching and coaching began and lasted for 60 years, ending at Land O’ Lakes, Wis., on Lac Vieux Desert.
Sally enjoyed playing golf and fishing with Gene, and was an avid reader. She was the only one in the family with a hole in one.
Sally is survived by her husband; and three children, Jane (Chris) of Augusta, W.Va., Ted (Delaine) of Stoughton,, and Mike (Julie) of Edgerton; six grandchildren, Bryan (Dana) Laskowski, Megan, Amanda and Nikki of Stoughton, Matt and Benjamin of Edgerton; and one great-grandchild, Elinor Grace Laskowski.
Services were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016, at Gaffney-Busha Funeral Home in Eagle River, Wis. Visitation was from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
Burial will be at a later date in the Eagle River Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Sally’s name.
