Beatrice ‘Bea’ M. Barnes

Beatrice “Bea” M. Barnes (née Clark) was born June 27, 1928, to Anna E. (née Richardson) and Fay James Clark in Rhinelander, Wis.
She went to be with the Lord peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Aug. 27, 2016.
Bea attended school in Rhinelander until 1942, then moved to Milwaukee, Wis., with her family.
She attended Girls Tech in Milwaukee.
She married Russell A. Barnes Feb. 2, 1946.
Bea is survived by her loving son, Russell “Rusty” A. Barnes Jr., and her daughter, Linda S. (Richard D.) Spice of Eagle River, Wis.; grandchildren, Thomas H. Moon Jr. (Cynthia Chambers) of Eagle River, Jason R. Moon (Sarah Dolens-Moon) of Madison, Wis., and Elizabeth A. Tassone (Christopher J. Tassone)  of Appleton, Wis.; great- grandchildren, David E. Moon (Makayla Olson) of Wausau, Wis., Miranda L. Moon (Kenneth J. Foreman), Skyler M. Shaw of Merrill, Wis., Tori L. Moon, Alexis A. Moon, Issac R. Moon, Josiah Northey of Appleton, Dylan R. Moon of Milwaukee, Lennon J. Tassone of Appleton and Penelope J. Moon of Madison;  one brother, Charles E. Clark of Imlay City, Mich., many nieces, nephews and friends.
Beatrice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russell A. Barnes; daughter, Becky M. Barnes; four brothers, Clarence Dalson, Roy Dalson, Richard Clark and Glen Clark; and two sisters,  Ruth Hanson and Evelynn Vallery.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 2, 2016, at Gaffney-Busha Funeral Home in Eagle River. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.  Burial will follow in the Laona Cemetery in Laona, Wis.

Robert Paul ‘Bob’ Seifert

Robert Paul “Bob” Seifert, 54, formerly of Eagle River, died Aug. 25, 2016.
Bob was born Oct. 1, 1961, in Rhinelander, to Robert L. and Regina M. “Dolly” (Powell) Seifert.
He married Laura Lippert on Aug. 22, 1987.
He is survived by his wife, Laura, of Rochester, Minn.; a son, Jacob, also of Rochester; daughters, Kelsey (Daniel) McLaughlin and Rebecca Seifert, both of the Twin Cities area, and Tatianna “Tia” (Ciran) O’Driscoll of Seattle, Wash.; and two grandchildren, Logan and Christopher.
He is also survived by sisters, Margaret Walker of Phoenix, Ariz., Kathleen (Matthew) Crass of Watertown, Wis., and Susan Vogel of Eagle River; and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Jeannie Seifert; and brother-in-law, Craig Vogel.
Funeral services were held on Aug. 30, in Kasson, Minn.
He is deeply missed.

Richard ‘Dick’ A. Nienow

Richard A. Nienow  (Dick) of Eagle River, Wis., formerly of Mequon, Wis., died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016, in Mequon.  He was 82.
Dick moved to Eagle River in 1996. He was a member of the Three Lakes horseshoe league, playing for The Warehouse. Dick rarely missed a fish fry at Lumpy’s.
He enjoyed the solitude of the North Woods, cruising the Chain on his pontoon,  as well as being an avid Packers and Badgers fan. Dick wanted everyone to know that he had a good life.
Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; son, Kenneth; and son-in-law, John Steffke.
Dick is survived by his children, Joan (Tom) Smetana of West Bend, Linda Steffke of Mequon, and Tom (Sue) Nienow of Pewaukee; eight grandchildren, Mike (Mi­chelle) Smetana, Rick (Jon Balthazer) Smetana, Lori (Jonathan) Hardy, Jason (Brittney Seeger) Steffke, Mark Steffke, Jennifer (Jamie) Kandziora, Zachary Nienow and Angel Hibbs;  five great-grandchildren;  a sister, Beverly Zirbel; a brother, Barry (Barb) Nienow; his many furry dog friends;  numerous family and friends.  
A visitation/life celebration will be held at the American Legion in Cedarburg, Wis., Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, from 2 to 6 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

Cassandra Nemecek

Cassandra Nemecek, of Fall River, died Friday, Sept. 2, 2016, at her residence. She was 36.
Mrs. Nemecek was born June 7, 1980, in Manitowoc.
She was a 1999 graduate of Northland Pines High School in Eagle River. 
She attended college in Manitowoc. 
She married Dean Nemecek Feb. 24, 2001, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manitowoc. 
She loved to travel and has been all over the United States as well as Mexico, Canada and Costa Rica. 
She also enjoyed spending time with her family, arts and crafts, projects at home, gardening and cooking.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Donald and Carol Jaeger; and one uncle, Walter DeYoung.
Survivors include her husband of Fall River; four children, Gage, Blake, Madison and Raegan, all of Fall River; her mother, Wendy (Dale) Borowski of Arkansas; father, Kenneth Bellin of Manitowoc; one brother, Josh Bellin of Arkansas; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends. 
Funeral services were held Sept. 6 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jim Wilson officiating. Burial was at Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc.

Geraldine ‘Geri’ Yvonne Lawler

Geraldine “Geri” Yvonne Lawler, 78, Ashwau­be­non, Wis., passed into eternal life to be with her husband, Bob, on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016. She died unexpectedly following a massive stroke.
Geri was born in Green Bay, Wis., on March 28, 1938, to Leonard and Sylvia (Mech) Kloes.
She graduated from Green Bay East High School and went on to Madison General School of Nursing where she achieved her Registered Nurse Degree.
On Nov. 28, 1959, Geri was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Jerome Lawler, who preceded her in death on Oct. 22, 1999.
Geri worked as a lifelong dedicated Registered Nurse at St. Vincent Hospital in Labor and Delivery; Northwest Engineering, Ashwaubenon School District, Newcap, and retired from Community Bio-Life Resources.
Geri and Bob were active members of St. John Lutheran Church in Ashwau­benon for over 50 years. She volunteered as a Youth Group Leader and enjoyed working with the youth in the church. Geri worked as the camp nurse at Camp Birch Knoll for several summers.
The center of Geri’s life was her family.  She enjoyed being with her family, camping with her kids, bicycling with Bob, and spending time outdoors. Geri enjoyed training her family dogs. She was an avid connoisseur of chocolate.
Geri is survived by her five children and their spouses, Bryan Lawler of Green Bay, Mark and Elizabeth Lawler of Sobieski, Kris and Mike Bourassa of De Pere, Joe and Diane Lawler of De Pere,  and Diana and David Verhagen of Ashwaubenon; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Mark and Jesse Lawler and their children, Damien and Aireyanna; Matthew and Bettina Lawler; Michael, Kimberly and Kaylyn Bourassa; Will and Madi Lawler; Samantha and Brooke Verhagen; sisters-in-law, Lucille Brown and Rosie Lawler, both of Madison; many nieces and nephews; and two brothers, Arnold (Carol) Kloes and Gerald (Sue) Kloes.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Don, Alice, John, Tom, Ruth Ann and Richard; and two nieces and a nephew.
Visitation and services were held Friday, Aug. 19 and Saturday, Aug. 20. Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., Green Bay assisted the family.

Jeffrey L. Hoffman

Jeffrey L. Hoffman, a resident of Three Lakes since 1990, died Friday, Sept. 2, 2016, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau. He was 44.
Mr. Hoffman was born Oct. 14, 1971, in Evanston, Ill., to Eugene and Suzy Hoffman. 
He worked at Three Lakes Winery in Three Lakes. 
He was an avid NASCAR fan, gardener and collector. 
Mr. Hoffman was preceded in death by his mother.
He is survived by his father of Edmonton, Ky.; one sister, Julie (Mark) Votis of Hiles; one niece; great-nephews; and many friends. 
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Charles F. Berg

Charles F. Berg, a resident of Kansas City, Mo., formerly of Vilas County and Chicago, Ill., died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016. He was 90.
He was born Oct. 7, 1925, in Chicago, Ill., to Frank and Estella (neé Haines) Schrei­ber.
He married Wanda Boles Sept. 10, 1949, in Chicago, Ill.
Mr. Berg was a veteran of the U.S. Merchant Marines and spent the majority of his career as an attorney for the IRS.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and one sister, Marcia Fiori.
Mr. Berg is survived by three sons, Thomas of Chicago, Ill., Robert of Lake Villa, Ill., and William of Clermont, Fla.; and two daughters, Susan Ferris of Kansas City, Mo., and Beverly Ann Bobek of Astoria, Ore.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, Oct. 8 at 10 a.m. at the Phelps Cemetery in Phelps, where his wife is buried.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Berg’s name to Disabled American Veterans are appreciated by the family.

Thomas J. “T”, “Tater” Wierichs died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016, after a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 55.
He was born Sept. 7, 1960, in Watertown, to Louis Sr. and Harriet (née Czajka) Wierichs. 
He married Terri Lutz May 25, 1985.
Mr. Wierichs was a former Navy Seal.
He was a farmer and also enjoyed his work as a milk truck driver.
Mr. Wierichs enjoyed hunting, fishing and four-wheeling in the North Woods.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Wierichs is survived by his wife; two daughters, Heather (Ron) Bearce, and Nichole (Allen) Meser; three brothers, Louis Jr., Jeffrey (Sandra), and Daniel (Cheri); two sisters, Maria, and Christina (Tim) Kimball; one granddaughter; nieces and nephews; and other family. 
A funeral service will be held Saturday, Sept. 10, at 5:30 p.m. at Valley Funeral Home, located at 2211 N. Richmond St. in Appleton.
Visitation will be held  from 3 p.m. until the time of service.

L. Catherine Snedden

L. Catherine Snedden passed away Sept. 10, 2016, at Milestone Assisted Living Center in Eagle River. She was 93 years old.
She was truly a strong woman in the face of adversity.  After her husband, Charlie, died at the age of 52, she was called back into the workforce. She spent years working for Johnson Camera Shop, Dairy Dandy, ERRA Concession Stand, Arrow Gift Shop and most recently volunteered at the Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Store.
Her hobbies included reading and gardening. She also enjoyed daily exercise, reading the Bible, listening to 107.1, eating out with her many friends, game shows and watching sporting events her family was in, from horse riding to singing to hockey and everything in between.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vivian and Ivan Gabriel; husband, Charles W. Snedden; a son, Robert “Bob” Snedden; and two granddaughters, Roxanne and Dawn.
She is survived by five children, Larry, Jim, John, Paul Snedden and Gail Schwenn, all of Eagle River, as well as 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, the true loves of her life.
She couldn’t wait to get to Heaven and be with her Heavenly Father.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 16, 2016, at Conover Evangelical Free Church in Conover. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.

Lyle Rodman

Lyle “Bud” Rodman, a longtime resident of East Troy, died Monday, Sept. 5, 2016, at East Troy Manor. He was 77.
He was born Jan. 25, 1939, to Robert and Henrietta Rodman.
Mr. Rodman attended school in Three Lakes.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and served four years, stationed in Germany.
Mr. Rodman married Virginia “Ginny” Krueger in 1964.
He worked as a truck driver. After he retired, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Audrey Adamovich, and Birdine Lawonn.
Mr. Rodman is survived by his wife; two sons, Michael (Jen) and Robert, both of East Troy; one daughter, Caryn, of East Troy; one sister, Darlene (Mike) Piasecki of Rhine­lander; one granddaughter; many nieces and nephews; and other family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Sept. 24, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Sammy’s Place in East Troy.

Samuel D. Metoyer

Samuel D. Metoyer, of Sugar Camp, formerly of Conover, died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016, at Seasons of Life Hospice in Woodruff. He was 77.
Mr. Metoyer was born Dec. 10, 1938, in Derry, La., to John and Florence Metoyer.
He served in the U.S. Army in Germany.
Mr. Metoyer enjoyed watching wildlife. He also loved cars and country and western music.
He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Eagle River and also was a member of the choir.
Mr. Metoyer was a member of The American Legion, American Veterans and the Oneida County Senior Center in Rhine­land­er.  
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Eugene.
Mr. Metoyer is survived by his special friend, Anne Verona, of Sugar Camp; one daughter, Dianna Casillas, of Schaumberg, Ill.; five grandsons; and other family.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 24, at 11 a.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Eagle River. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Betty J. Krueger

Betty J. Krueger, age 90, of Merrill, Wis., passed away on Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, at The Neighbors of Dunn Coun­ty in Menom­onie, Wis.
Betty was born Jan. 26, 1926, in Merrill, daughter of the late Harvey and Clara (Jaeger) Emanuel.
She married Donald Krueger on May 15, 1948, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. He survives.
For 14 years, Betty and Don owned and operated “Krueger’s Place” in the town of Doering, Lincoln County.  Betty always kept their business spic and span.
Prior to owning the tavern, Betty worked at the former Anson-Gilkey for 15 years, and she and Don had dairy farmed for five years.
Betty enjoyed tending to her flowers. She had a green thumb to be envied.
She loved animals of all kinds and anything that came to the door she fed and made a pet of.
Don remembers Betty as the best farm girl out there.
Betty enjoyed fishing and made the best homemade fish fry. Betty enjoyed canning and cooking, and made everything taste great, even wild game.
Betty also enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, and traveling.
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Donald Krueger of Menomonie; her son, Greg (Bonnie) Krueger of Owatonna, Minn.; two grandsons, Blake Krueger of Winona, Minn., and Brent (Cassey) Krueger of Madison Lake, Minn.; one great-grandson, Lucas Krueger of Madison Lake; two sisters, JoAnn Johnson and MaryAnn Riebe, both of Merrill; one brother, Harvey (Betty) Emanuel of Palm Coast, Fla.; her in-laws, Jeanette Sommi of Merrill, Kenneth (Mitzi) Krueger of Wausau and Leonard (Sharon) Krueger of Gleason; and many nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Clara Emanuel; her sister, Elaine Gano; her brothers, Roger (Darla) Emanuel and Jerry Emanuel; and infant, James Emanuel; and her in-laws, Jake Sommi and Dorothy (Bill) Hommerding.
A funeral service was held Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016, at Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, with the Rev. William “Bill” Trosien officiating.  Burial will take place at Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery.
Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements.

John ‘Jack’ Parkman Butler

John “Jack” Parkman Butler, of Eagle River, died on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016, of lung cancer. He was 87.
Dr. Butler was born on Feb. 15, 1929, in St. Louis, Mo., to Stuart Markle and Lucille (Woods) Butler.
As a child and teenager, he spent summers with his grandmother, Jennie (Markle) Butler, at her summer home on Catfish Lake.
In 1951, he purchased one of the Everett Resort cottages on Cranberry Lake that has served as the focal point for many family gatherings and is now owned by the children.
Dr. Butler received his Bachelor of Science in Math and Chemistry from Amherst College in Amherst, Mass. He went on to attend Iowa State College (now Iowa State University) in Ames, Iowa, where he earned his master’s degree and Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry.
He spent the first years of his career on the staff of the Institute of Paper Chemistry, located in Appleton at the time. He joined Marathon Corp. as a process engineer in 1957, and then worked for American Can Co. in Neenah, Wis., and Greenwich, Conn., for 25 years before retiring from James River Corp. (now part of Koch Industries).
After his retirement, Dr. Butler moved to Eagle River.
He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed every aspect of the outdoors. Because of his extensive knowledge of the wild berry patches in the Nicolet National Forest, he enjoyed many hours harvesting the berries and making jellies and jams.
Among his many other hobbies were cutting wine bottles, woodworking and weaving.
Dr. Butler is survived by his former wife, Dorothy (Brown) Butler; three children, Grace Sheely (Rick) of Minnetonka, Minn., Jim (Janie) of Singapore, and Jane of Greenville, Wis.; seven grandchildren, James Shuler, Holliday Shuler, Tom Sheely, Amelia Shuler, Meg Sheely, John Butler and Matthew Butler; and a sister, Jane (Butler) Taylor of Williamsburg, Va.
A private memorial service will be held on Cranberry Lake.

Joyce Klabunde Youngquist

Joyce Klabunde Youngquist, 92, died at Dianne’s Home of the Northwoods on Monday, Sept. 12, 2016, in Eagle River, Wis.
She was born in Phelps, Wis., on Feb. 7, 1924, to Otto and Emma (Volkman) Kla­bunde.
She graduated from Phelps High School and married James J. Youngquist in 1942. They were married for 52 years until his death in 1994.
She was a lifelong resident of Phelps and was a housekeeper for numerous vacation homes in the area until her retirement in her 70s.
Joyce was a longtime member of Phelps Congregational United Church of Christ where she was very active as a church caretaker and cook for church events.  She was also active, involved, and supportive in the Phelps community.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James; her brothers, Lawrence and Arden; and her sisters, Fern and Mildred.
She is survived by her sons, Jim (Lynne) of Mt. Vernon, Wash., Jeff (Nancy) of Sandwich, Mass.; and daughter, Janaan of Eagle River; three grandchildren, Jeff, Jason and Jennifer; three great-grandchildren, Mat­thew, Meghan and Liam; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was loved by all for her generosity, kindness and strength of spirit and she will be greatly missed.
A graveside service was held at Phelps Cemetery on Friday, Sept. 16.

Dave Winkler

Dave Winkler, of Eagle River, and formerly of Mukwonago, died Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016, at his home. He was 59.
He was born Sept. 5, 1957, in West Allis, to Robert and Lois Winkler.
Mr. Winkler was mechanically inclined and worked with computers. He loved airplanes, motorcycles, and all animals, especially dogs.
He was preceded in death by his father. 
Mr. Winkler is survived by his mother, of Milwaukee; three sisters, Barb (Dan) Paddock of Waukesha, Cindi of Milwaukee, and Vicky (Mack) VanSkyhawk of Eagle River; nieces and nephews; and numerous other family and friends.
A memorial service will be held in Milwaukee at a later date.

Alice K. Whittingham

Alice K. Whittingham age 84, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016, at County Terrace under the care of hospice.
She was born July 30, 1932, to Warren and Cleo (Hepker) McMullen in Lincoln, Neb.
Alice went to school in Lincoln, McPherson, Kan., and graduated from Greenville High School in Greenville, Ill., in 1949.
She continued her education at Greenville College, graduating in 1953, and the University of Illinois and receive her master’s degree in Music Education, graduating in 1956. Alice taught music in Moweaqua, Des Plaines and Park Ridge, Ill. 
Alice spent most of her life, over 50 years, operating and building Afterglow Lake Resort in Phelps.
She sang in the choirs and worship teams of her churches for many years and was the choir’s director at Conover Evangelical Free Church.
Alice was a talented seamstress.
She served on the Phelps hospital board for over 25 years.
Alice will be mostly remembered for her love and passion of swimming at Afterglow Lake. 
Alice is survived by her children, Pete (Gail) Moline, David (Diane) Moline and Laurie (Nathan) McLain; her grandchildren, Scott, Mitch, Mike, Brad and Abigail; and a sister, Barb (Clayton) Strong. 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Whittingham; her parents; and a brother, Carl (Ruth) McMullen.

Sheryl Ann (Dahl­berg) Sieren, age 53, of Milwaukee, Wis., and Eagle River, Wis., passed away on Aug. 25, 2016, at UW Hospital.
She was born on March 30, 1963, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Marilyn and Eugene Pochinski.
Sheryl loved being in nature, gardening, planting flowers, camping, cooking and being in her kitchen, admiring the wildlife in her backyard, taking long walks, chatting on the phone with her mother daily, and catching up on life with her son and daughter as often as possible.
She was someone who made others smile and feel comfortable. Sheryl was warm, she loved life and was loved by many. She was a wonderful daughter, thoughtful sister and aunt, loyal friend and a loving mother.
Sheryl recently became a grandmother to identical twin boys and loved getting updates and pictures. She was able to meet them, hold them and kiss them before she died, for which the family is forever grateful.
Sheryl is survived by her parents; daughter, Tia (Colin); son, Shane (Sara); grandsons, Mason and Barrett; sister, Michelle (Jerry); niece, Kylah; and nephew, Dylan.
Funeral services will be held at Gunderson East Funeral Home, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, Wis., at noon on Friday, Sept. 23, 2016. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
Sheryl’s soul and memories will live on through her children and her grandchildren.

Lil Pulec, of Eagle River, formerly of Chicago, Ill., died Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016. She was 78.
She was born Dec. 17, 1937, in Chicago, Ill., to John and Laura Begeschke.
She married Tony Pulec Aug. 27, 1955, in Chicago, Ill.  
Mrs. Pulec and her husband owned and operated Heart O’ The Woods in St. Germain for more than 20 years. She also co-owned Heart II in Arbor Vitae with her son, Steve. 
Mrs. Pulec enjoyed her work and loved spending time with her family.  
She was a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Eagle River, the Tavern League and the Lioness Club.
Mrs. Pulec was preceded in death by one son, Steve; her parents; one brother, Leon; one daughter-in-law, Donna; and two brothers-in-law, Jimmy Smith, and Paul Bonheimer.
She is survived by her husband, of Eagle River; one son, Mike (Terri) of Lake Kiowa, Texas; three daughters, Sue (Steve) Grindinger of Flower Mound, Texas, Sharon (Dave) Meyer of Eagle River, and Marie Champeny of Louis­ville, Texas; one brother, Larry (Leona) of Burbank, Ill.; three sisters, Lynda Smith of Chicago Ridge, Ill., Noreen Bonheimer of Chi­cago, Ill., Debbie (George) Milner of Hickory Hills, Ill.; four sisters-in-law; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and other family and numerous friends.  
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
